Glasgow shops exclude repeat offenders

Friday, October 31, 2003

“Serial crooks face life ban from stores: Violent shoplifters will be barred from Glasgow shops under a pioneering new scheme to cut retail crime and attacks on staff [. . .] Known shoplifters will get a warning letter by store staff if caught in the act or found to be acting suspiciously. A thief who gets three letters in a 12-month period can be barred from entering any city shop, major department store, university building or bus station. Photographs of all excluded criminals will be distributed to stores and window stickers displayed in shops showing membership. . .” Evening Times
