The consequences of such limitations are negatively felt by those, already vulnerable, victims of abuse who continue to experiences difficulties both accessing and securing legal protection. It is crucial that the reforming spirit which underpins the civil law is mirrored in the operation of the criminal law: without this, the effectiveness of both are potentially compromised. . .”
