“Plea for Scottish national crime unit: Scotland needs a free-standing national crime squad with the legal status and resources to match the National Crime Squad south of the Border, according to one of the country?s top police officers. John Vine, the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS), has called for the role of existing police organisations such as the Scottish Drug Enforcement Agency (SDEA) to be formalised and lifted out of the ?legal limbo? in which it operates. . .” Sunday Herald
